Terms of Service
Last updated August 4, 2026
mefinx is a personal CRM: a private notebook for the people, places, and events in your life, which you can ask questions about in plain language. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
What this service is
Your account
You need an account to use mefinx. Sign-in is handled by Clerk; keep your credentials secure, as anyone with access to your login can read and change everything in your graph. You are responsible for activity under your account.
One person, one account. Do not share an account, and do not attempt to access another account’s data.
Information about other people
This is the part that deserves real attention. A personal CRM is, by its nature, a record about people who are not you and who have not agreed to anything here. When you add someone’s name, contact details, birthday, relationships, or notes about your interactions, you are the one deciding to record that.
You agree that you will:
- only record information you obtained lawfully and are permitted to keep;
- use it for your own personal relationship management — not to profile, market to, harass, stalk, or build a dossier on anyone;
- respect any request from a person you have recorded to correct or delete what you hold about them;
- not upload special-category information (health, sexuality, religion, politics, biometrics, criminal history) about anyone who would not expect you to.
If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection law such as the GDPR or CCPA, note that the purely personal or household exemption is narrow. Using mefinx for professional, commercial, or organizational purposes likely makes you the data controller for the records you create, with the obligations that carries. That responsibility is yours, not the service’s.
AI-generated answers
The chat feature sends your query and the relevant parts of your graph to a third-party language model provider (see the Privacy Policy). Model output can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently invented.
The assistant can also write to your graph — creating people, events, and relationships on your behalf. Review what it does. Nothing it produces is advice of any kind, and you should not rely on it for any decision that matters.
Acceptable use
Your data, and ending your use
Your graph is yours. You can delete records at any time, and you can ask for your account and its data to be deleted outright.
Accounts that abuse the service or these terms may be suspended or removed. Because this is a personal project, the service itself could be discontinued; reasonable effort will be made to give notice and an export first, but this is not a guarantee.
No warranty, and limits on liability
mefinx is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no guarantee that it will be available, accurate, or free of data loss. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of mefinx is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the service.
That includes a breach. Your data is protected with reasonable care — authenticated on every request, scoped to your account, encrypted in transit — but this is a personal project, not an audited platform, and it carries no security certification. No promise is made that it cannot be compromised, and the operator is not liable for loss, disclosure, or unauthorized access to what you have stored, however it occurs.
What follows from that is a decision only you can make: what to put in here. You are responsible for what you choose to record, about yourself and about anyone else. The Privacy Policy sets out what does not belong in a personal notebook like this one. The short version: do not store anything here that would be worth stealing.
